Associate Pastor of Family & Music Ministries

We are a multigenerational church whose mission is to love God, love others, and magnify the name of Jesus Christ. At our Sunday services, we average 180 people, with a growing number of young families from Ponoka and the surrounding area. We are excited about the opportunity to increase our capacity for effective ministry, for God’s glory.

Definition

This position is a permanent, full-time ministry position designated to oversee and coordinate the development of ministries related to families from children through young adults in the church and community, as well as our church music ministry.

Qualifications

The Associate Pastor of Family & Music Ministries agrees to:

  1. Demonstrate the qualities of an elder, as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; and 1 Peter 5:1-5.
  2. Give testimony and life witness of a) spiritual gifts relevant to children and families; b) a philosophy of family and music ministry in the church; and c) a deep, genuine love for families, children, youth, and young adults.
  3. Have appropriate and adequate training, and preferably prior experience in these ministries.
  4. Have a knowledge of Scripture and an ability to apply Scriptural principles in ministry.
  5. Be a stable, mature, and growing Christian with a healthy personal, marital and family life (if applicable).
  6. Provide a Letter of Eligibility from the AGC (Associated Gospel Churches) National Coordinator of Doctrine and Credentials.

 Responsibilities

1. Family Ministries (75%):

  1. Oversight - provide oversight and equip the ministry teams necessary for serving the families in our church. This would include but not be limited to: Toddler Room, Junior Church, Awana, VBS, Youth, and Young Adults.
  2. Training & Discipleship - provide intentional training for those leading in our various family life ministries (e.g., Awana volunteer training, Youth leader training, etc.). Provide intentional discipleship of one leader in our family life ministries. 

2. Music Ministry (25%):

  1. Oversight - provide oversight and equip our music ministry volunteers. This would include our Sunday morning music teams, audio and video volunteers, and external chapel services.
  2. Training & Discipleship - provide intentional training for those serving in our music ministry. Provide intentional discipleship of one leader in our music ministry.

Administrative Relationships

  1. Reporting and Evaluation - The Associate Pastor of Family & Music Ministries will be accountable to the Elders and supervised daily by the Senior Pastor. His professional performance will be evaluated annually by the Elders. He will sign our “Code of Conduct Policy” annually.
  2. Elder Board and Committees - The Associate Pastor of Family & Music Ministries will serve as an elder and will present monthly reports at Board meetings.
