Dear Church of the Open Bible,
You’ve all been there. Traveling for an extended family gathering. Finding a spot that everyone can stay at, with enough space for kids and grandkids. Those weekends are full of catching up with people you don’t see regularly. Making the effort to meet like that is tiring but good, difficult but necessary. And for me, those busy days make returning home all the more enjoyable.
Last Sunday, we met with some of our extended family in Ponoka for our Community Church Service. There were 470 people who came out to the Stampede Grounds to celebrate our unity in Christ. It was good but this Sunday we get to return home! It reminds me of David’s longing in Psalm 42.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
“Where is your God?”
These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise,
a multitude keeping festival. Psalm 42:2–4
David yearns to meet with God together with His people in the Temple. After ten weeks of being out of our sanctuary, we get to return home. Thank you for your patience! There will be a few changes as we gather in our expanded space but what is most important is staying the same: the worship of the Lord together, centered around His Word. Come celebrate Him with us!
