Dear Church of the Open Bible,
The unique seasons we find ourselves in, give us unique opportunities to share the “reason for the hope that is within” us (1 Pet 3:15). We are entering one of those seasons. On our way home from Awana last night, the kids and I counted the number of homes with Christmas lights already shining brightly. We couldn’t keep up. But it was a good reminder for us to prepare to be intentional when it comes to sharing the good news of our generous and gracious God. As a church, there are a number of ways we are planning to equip you to do this in the next few weeks, but let me share just one.
They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. - 1 Timothy 6:18-19
On November 30th, we want to invite families of the church and our community to enjoy the generosity we’ve received from God. Running from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the church, our Kid’s Christmas Mall will allow children to pick and wrap Christmas gifts for their parents. Meanwhile, parents will enjoy a hot drink, snacks, and connection while they wait. The gifts are free, as we have purchased Amazon overstock and return items. But we need your help.
If you are able to help welcome families, assist with crafts, visit with parents, and shop with kids on Nov. 30th, please let us know by replying to this email. We’re especially looking for donations of Christmas wrapping paper (even the stuff at the end of the roll). We also need your help to spread the word. Invite your neighbours or maybe even come with them on Saturday. Finally, join us in praying that this would be an opportunity for people to not merely be introduced to us as a church, but to the God we’ve received so much from through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.
